XCR 26 Round 7 Lakeside 10km
We had a solid bounce in the numbers from last round, with 3 full teams in the open women’s and men’s while in the juniors we had some good individual results but no full teams. Highlights for the day include our open men’s premier team in second place and Isaac French’s second place in the U14s. Thanks to all those who ran, Mario Muscat for assisting with the drinks station and Alistair McDonald for providing some of the photos.
Open Men
A good result for our open men’s teams, 3 full teams and one in the Div 6, thanks to a couple of U20s. Our Premier team was strong finishing in second place, but a way behind the dominant Sandringham team. Ben Chamberlain was first to cross in a time of 29 minutes and 57 seconds. Second was U20 Mahmoud Abouzeid then Zayd Al Sayd with Callum Drake 4th, then Abdi Haji Ali with U20 Jackson Wright rounding the team. Special thanks to Brandon Muscat for pacing Jacko to a huge PB in his last race before he leaves for the U.S. and giving him the opportunity to make the premier team. Our Div 3 team was 9th, the Div 5 was 11th and the Div 6 was 12th.

Open Women
Good numbers provided our women with three full teams and a good result for our premier team finishing 4th. First across the line was Ebony Dodemaide in a time of 35 minutes and 46 seconds, in 10th overall, a great result at the highly competitive Lakeside 1okm. Next in was Janae MacKrell with Amy Cashin 3rd, Maddi Button 4th and Jade Chitty rounding out the team and her debut in the Premier team. The Div 2 was 9th, the Div 4 was 6th. Solid results keeping our premier in 3rd on the ladder and the other teams well away from relegation. In the Short Course 3km, U20 Lucy Cleveland’s return to running progressed well with a 5th place overall and Janice Hodgart was 3rd in the 60+ age group.

Juniors
It was a small juniors contingent across the age groups but thanks to our two U20s athletes who chose to run in the open 10km race; Jackson Wright and Mahmoud Abouzeid. Mahmoud would have won the U20s race by nearly 50 seconds and he made a huge difference to our open premier team. In the junior 10km race U20 Armeet Dhaliwal was 22nd. In the 3km races Shivika Dubey was 20th in the women’s U18 and in the U16, Ella McDonald was 18th and Abby Bassos was 23rd. In the Men’s U16 Ryder Deans was 6th with Zac Salerno 18th. In the Men’s U14 Isaac French was 2nd in a time of 10 minutes and 19 seconds and Ishaan Burgu was 4th. Well done to all.
