PRESIDENT

Brenda has been an important member of the club for many years.  She has been a committee member for since 2012 and has held various positions including secretary, registrar, social coordinator, social and diversity, officer and grants. This year she has added coaching people interested in the free trials offered by the club. Brenda still competes for the club in the 60+age group and one of the best things about knowing Brenda is she always makes you laugh, even if she does not mean to.

VICE PRESIDENT

Claire has competed in athletics since U6’s at Little Athletics through to seniors at Western Athletics. Claire joined the committee in 2019 and has been involved in many projects prior such as establishing the club records, running our social media (2011-2026), and a member of the social sub committee.

SECRETARY

Crystal has been involved with Western Athletics for 3 years. This is crystals second season on the committee and has taken the role of Secretary! Outside of volunteering on the committee, Crystal likes to play pickleball and enjoys cooking.

TREASURER

Amy has been a member since 2023 and is currently in her first season serving as Treasurer. When she's not busy with her committee duties, you’ll often find her out sprinting or jumping at AVSL competitions. With 14 years as Finance Manager at Collingwood and 3 years at Hawthorn Football Club, her experience and passion brings valuable insight and energy to the club.

XCR TEAM MANAGER

Phil has been involved with Western Athletics for a long time and is best known as our XCR Team Manager. Over the past few years Phil has played a major part with promotion of both our Men's and Women's Open XCR teams to Premier division. In his spare time you will find Phil home brewing and playing his guitar.

Peter has been a long supporter of the club, having performed the role of Secretary from 2011 to 2017, and took on the role as club President from 2017-2023. Peter's daughter Amy and son Liam have competed at national level for the club, and it's easy to see where they get their talent from!

This is Phil’s second season on the committee. Since 2025, Phil has been managing the records on our site (which his son Alex likes to keep him busy updating!). Outside of athletics, Phil enjoys keeping busy with his theatre career.

Aliyah joins the committee for the first time, bringing a fresh and youthful vision to the team. As an experienced thrower who has competed across all levels of athletics, she offers valuable insight from an athlete’s perspective and a strong understanding of the sport. Her passion, experience, and new ideas will be a great addition to the committee moving forward.
